Asianart.uz - The Happy Bird Gallery
Happy Bird isn’t just a gallery where a high-quality collection of paintings, photography, books, furniture, clothes and handicraft is exhibited for viewing and sale. Articles of art have become an organic part of the atmosphere of a caravanserai of the beginning of the last century. The spirit of kind interest in foreign culture and in its representatives, which reigned in such houses from time immemorial, is remaining here.
Sale is important, but it is not our fundamental aim. The majority of things collected here are not for sale. Their purpose is to create a comfortable atmosphere for creative people who can sell their works here, as well as for gallery visitors: people from Uzbekistan or foreign guests. Everybody can find in Happy Bird something attractive for them: a salon of elegant clothes in ethnic style, an exposition or a place where you are invited to table to have a cup of tea or coffee during an easy conversation.
Loss of authenticity is a sad phenomenon taking place in the world. Substitutes, such as synthetic food, artificial fabrics or false relationships between people have filled all spheres of existence. To keep quality even on the level of the material and cultural values and human relations offered by the Gallery is a priority of Happy Bird.
The main principles of the Gallery are to use only natural materials of local manufacture, to pay justly for the labour of the craftsmen, to help them in getting fabrics, dyes and other things necessary for work, and to promote gifted and purposeful people. Happy Bird Art Gallery is a member of Central Asian Crafts Support Association (CACSA) and Republic National Masters and Artisans Association “Khunarmand”.
It’s pleasant to see that people are interested in what we do. The reaction of some visitors of Happy Bird doesn’t need any comments. For instance, a Frenchwoman glanced over the room of the Gallery, threw up her hands and exclaimed “It’s a treasury of Ali-Baba!”
In reality, the treasures of the Gallery are a high mastery of performance of the articles exhibited here , such as pictures, batik shawls, ceramic bowls or child’s valenki (felt boots), and a luxury of communication within the world of beautiful things created or collected with love.
Happy Bird’s site has only some samples of the Gallery’s possessions. I invite those who are interested in arts and crafts to visit us. Just enjoy contemplating the perfection the creative people of Uzbekistan can reach in their work.
